Improved league racing at PGP!

25 Sep

This Saturday September 27th, marks the conclusion of our 2014 Summer Rental Kart Racing League. Racers have treated us to some great action this season with over 80 drivers competing against some of the best rental kart racers in the Pacific Northwest. Heading into the last round, Cem Aykan, with five victories on his series tally holds a strong points lead in the “Pro” category. In the “Pro-Am” category the race for the championship will go down to the wire, with both Vivek G and Eric Quinterio in an excellent position to win their first PGP season championships.

After only a short two week break in the action, October 11th will bring the start of our 2014 Fall Rental Kart Racing season! Again the popular “Pro” and “Pro-Am” categories will battle it out over the course of a 7 race season with each competitor’s best 6 races counting towards the season championship.

The Fall season will also bring an exciting change to the event format. Each event will now consist of a Practice/Qualifying session, followed by a 15 minute heat race. The results of the heat race will set the starting grid for a 30 MINUTE FINAL RACE! This double length feature event is sure to add a new level of excitement and stamina to the races.

Pricing for the Fall series will remain the same at $85 for members and $95 for non-members. We will also be offering the very popular “Season Pass” option again, a discounted price of $500 gets you entry into all 7 of the Fall series races and an additional FREE bonus entry to one of our endurance series events.

As always, all events at PGP are run rain and shine. With multiple miles of track drainage piping running underneath the surface, PGP is the perfect place to take advantage of our wild and wet Pacific Northwest  weather!

Thank you for choosing to race at PGP Motorsports Park!

Karting at PGP just got even cooler!

17 Jul

At PGP we are obsessed with always trying to improve the safety and comfort of your racing experience. We know as well as you that the long sleeve apparel requirement could be a bit toasty in the summer time. So we went to work developing a heat shield for the exhaust system of our karts. We designed and tested multiple options before arriving at the final product that is now fitted to all of our karts. This heat shield ensures that you are protected from the hot temps around the exhaust area of the kart while allowing us to lift the requirement of long sleeves on track at PGP!

So while we still recommend long sleeves, they are no longer required for our Arrive and Drive Karting sessions. Come join us for some “cool” summer karting at PGP!

SOVREN Guild Kart Challenge Raises $57K for Seattle Children’s!

04 Jul

Now in its fifth edition, the SOVREN Guild Kart Challenge made its return to PGP on Friday, June 18th.  The annual event benefiting Seattle Children’s Hospital has become a mainstay in the summer calendar at PGP.  The racing action this year was as hotly contested as ever.  With 100% of the proceeds from the race being donated directly to Seattle Children’s Hospital, the real winners are truly the children. This year’s race saw 18 teams and nearly 80 drivers battle wheel-to-wheel over the course of the 2-hour endurance race. In the end it was one of the Team Seattle entries, driven by Don Kitch, Maurice Shawver, Andrew Evans and Kevin Janders, completing 81 laps who took the victory.  With the win, Team Seattle earned a spot on the popular perpetual Helmet Trophy.  Their names will be added to list of past victors in the event.  As a member of the winning team in 2013 as well, Kevin Janders also became the first two-time winner in the event’s history.

The most coveted spot on the trophy, reserved for the team bringing in the most donations, went to another Team Seattle entry, Team Seattle-Valve Karting,  bringing in that top honor.

An extremely generous matching donation of $20,000 from Jackson Dean Construction brought this year’s event total to over $57,000.  This brings the event’s five-year total to nearly  $250,000!

PGP and the SOVREN Guild would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone involved in making this year’s event a huge success and we look forward to making the 2015 Kart Challenge an even bigger success for Seattle Children’s!
