Of course we're excited about our 2012-2013 Fall-Winter Schedule — so much racing, so much FUN! — and there's one category that we're especially looking forward to: the four-stroke karts.
On Saturday, Oct. 13 we'll have the first of seven four-cycle events, all of which will be run concurrently with Rental Kart League Races. The remaining dates are: Nov. 10, Dec. 1, Jan. 12, Feb. 2, March 15 and April 27.
We'll have two classes, CRF250 Shifter and 6.05 OHV Box Stock. A quick overview of each:
The CRF250 features Electronic Fuel Ignition (EFI) and is produced by Honda Performance Development (HPD). The engine comes completely assembled and ready to drop into a kart chassis: no more hiring an expert or trying to muddle through assembling the motor yourself. Everything relating to the drivetrain is included in the package: motor, motor mount, electronic fuel pump, clutch and throttle cables, air filter and custom-made Yoshimura exhaust.
The 6.5 OHV Box Stock class will allow competitors to race one of three popular four-cycle karting engines: the Briggs and Stratton L.O. 206 engine, Honda GX200 or any of the ARKA Legal 6.5 OHV Clone engines. All of these engines will be run and scored as one class and equalized by weight for parity.
The primary goal of both the 6.5 OHV Box Stock and CRF250 classes is to provide PGP's racers with a low-cost stepping stone into competitive kart racing. Of course, technical inspection will be performed to ensure a level playing field.
As always, we'll give our four-stroke karters four on-track sessions — practice, qualifying, heat and main event — and all of the advice and bench racing they can stand in the paddock. Our tried and true format maximizes your fun by giving you plenty of on-track time with minimal downtime.
Think you're up to a challenge? Try pulling double-duty with the four-stroke and RKLR. That's, like, triple the fun!
